Design Village
Spring 2015
Studio Norman

in collaboration with: Fernando Astiazaran, Chris Carbajal, Brian Chan, Jerry Luong
The design village competition invites students to fabricate their own structures for temporary assembly in Poly Canyon located on the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo Campus. Students worked in groups to sleep for a night in their projects.

The project was developed around the human body. The structure and design accounted for each body, which was then developed into a form. Each body has a sleeping comfortable structure. The form allows individual occupation and privacy while also promoting interactions. The structure is capable of larger capacity which gives composed seating for conversations and interactions. The exposure to light while inside the structure was also minimized by creating larger height at the south side. This project was made for easy assemblage and transportation to then be constructed away from campus.
